Due to the significant increase in viewing/reading/general traffic at my journal (thanks mainly to Weekly Bandom and my icon journal, I think), I've decided to go pretty much friends-only.

Things that will remain unlocked:
• Weekly Bandom; all previous WB posts will remain unlocked and all future ones will be posted publicly.
• music posts, such as the covers series.
• a few other random posts here and there (a few picspams, the huge video and fic rec posts, things like that).

So if you've friended me in order to stay updated on Weekly Bandom, or my music posts (thin on the ground right now), no need to worry.

For the time being, I'm not adding very many people, because I'm trying to keep my flist under control and avoid using filters. But if you'd like to be added back, feel free to drop a comment. (Comments are screened.)

A little late, but that's par for the course these days. (Honestly, I might as well say it's a Monday thing and then if I post on the weekend, it's early!)

Anyway, no fic recs this week. But in case you weren't aware, there are many new, long, stories over at bandombigbang, and I've heard that they're fantastic (the two I've read so far certainly were). So go check that out.

This is a very Cab-heavy week, especially in the image section. And fyi, the image section is large this week (100+).

It's quite possible there won't be another Weekly Bandom until July, because this weekend I'm going to Warped, and then I leave for a week at the beach, where I will have little to no internet. (But I will have a lot of saved BigBangs to read, hooray!)

I have been pimping The Dresden Dolls to liketheroad like no tomorrow, and the latest endeavor was putting together some video recommendations for her. It got rather long, so I'm making it its own post. \o/

Here, have a mix that I made tonight. It started because Death Cab For Cutie's "I Will Possess Your Heart" makes me feel really calm and content, and I wanted to put some other songs like that into a mix. And then it... morphed. Kind of. I'm not sure how to classify it, but I've been listening to it all evening.

I know I missed last week's, but it was relatively quiet so I didn't push very hard. I'm hoping by now people are seeing that it's really more like "Weekly" Bandom.

I just did a relatively big friends cut. I'm not super happy to do it, but it's at the point where I was having to read on filters, and I know that once my life starts getting busier (when I start my theater job and then when I go off to school) I would have had a really hard time managing it as it was. It's nothing personal, I'm just trying to get things to a manageable level.

Hey guys, sorry it's been forever and a day since I last posted a complete Weekly Bandom. As I've said in recent posts, my life has been fairly crazy lately. It's probably not going to get less crazy very soon, so we'll see what happens. But I'm here, posting, so yay! And I know I missed stuff for the last section, but that's what happens when I take an unintentional 3-week hiatus :/

As you presumably know if you're reading this journal, California's recent court decision regarding same-sex marriage was a huge fucking deal. It was historic, long overdue, and took a hell of a lot of fighting.

Unfortunately (and not surprisingly) Governor Schwarzenegger is receiving tons of phone calls from the supporters of 'Limits on Marriage' (the constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in California) about his comment to a group of Log Cabin Republicans that he wouldn't support a constitutional amendment.

We don't want him to go back on his word. So he needs to hear from us too.

Calling him means calling an automated system; you won't have to talk to anyone. And you can call even if you're not from California. So please, the more the better.

The number is 1-916-445-2841; press 1, 5, 1 to get to the particular issue, then press 1 if you want to support upholding the court decision and are against a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.


It takes less than 30 seconds to call, you don't have to talk to anyone, and it could make a huge difference.

The theater job I just started has ended up being a lot more involved than it was supposed to be, so all my free time is being sucked into work. Which means that unfortunately, Weekly Bandom won't be going up today or tomorrow. Maybe I'll do one of those weird mid-week ones on Wednesday or something, I don't know. We'll see.

Finally, retaining the designation of marriage exclusively for opposite-sex couples and providing only a separate and distinct designation for same-sex couples may well have the effect of perpetuating a more general premise — now emphatically rejected by this state — that gay individuals and same-sex couples are in some respects “second-class citizens” who may, under the law, be treated differently from, and less favorably than, heterosexual individuals or opposite-sex couples. Under these circumstances, we cannot find that retention of the traditional definition of marriage constitutes a compelling state interest. Accordingly, we conclude that to the extent the current California statutory provisions limit marriage to opposite-sex couples, these statutes are unconstitutional.

In the midst of all my personal stuff, I'd completely forgotten this was happening. When I saw the new today, I was so happy I started crying. I'm crying again as I write this. It's just... thank god, something good happening. Even if the campaigning has already begun to fight it, that can't kill my mood, because we fucking WON.

There will be no Weekly Bandom this week. Anything that would have been posted tomorrow will be posted next week.

Tonight I'm making up for the lack of image sections recently by posting 101 photos. Concert photos, magazine scans, random images that were new to me... it's all in there.

There is no fic rec section for a couple reasons: a) I read basically no fic this week, and b) in the next few days I am going to be doing a relatively large rec post of older stuff that I'd meant to rec but never actually did.

The last section is tiny this week. This is partly due to a quiet bandom week, and partly because I didn't post last week's Weekly Bandom until Tuesday night.

Late because I was dealing with family stuff all weekend. This post includes some stuff from the last 2+ weeks. I definitely missed things from when I was away last week (still getting caught up, actually), so... it's a random assortment. There's no image section because I am tired and cranky. A lot of image-related stuff is still included as links, and next week or something I'll probably do a post where I upload all the random pictures I have floating around. We'll see. Sorry this is late. Busy yesterday, plus computer troubles. Work today, plus more computer troubles. In the interest of not getting overly frustrated, and not wasting time that I really ought to spend packing, there is no image section this week. I mispoke last week (obviously, as I'm posting now), sorry. It's this next week that I'm away. I'm going to be basically internet-less for about a week, which means that when I come home I am going to be super behind in all things bandom. I'm not sure whether or not I'll end up attempting to recap what all happened while I was away, but I'll probably try :D

Bandom was surprisingly busy this week, man oh man. And by bandom, I really mean Panic. This is a pretty long post (the image section is definitely longer than usual) which is part of the reason it's late.

By the look of things (and given that Panic is MTV's Artist of the Week), it's going to be another busy week. Since I'm in NYC next weekend and will not be posting Weekly Bandom, expect (probably) an extra-long post in two weeks.
